The FIFA Under-20 Women’s World Cup commenced on August 10, 2022, in Costa Rica. Nigeria’s Falconets played against France in the Group D opening match on Friday, August 12, 2022. They played a goalless first half, and it was looking like a goalless second half until the amazing Flourish Sabastine got an assist from Mercy Idoko to score an 85th-minute goal.

The win puts Nigeria at number two on the table after earning 3 points. Their next match is against South Korea tomorrow, August 14, 2022.
