Ghana Receives Madagascar’s Covid-19 ‘Cure’, Undergoes Testing

The Government of Ghana on Wednesday, 20 May, 2020 received Madagascar’s COVID-19 cure and its currently undergoing testing. This follows shortly after President Nana Akufo Addo received heavy scrutiny from locals for endorsing the UN Aid vaccine.

Before now, there has been pressure mounted on government locally to contact the African country for the medication after Andry Rajoelina, Madagascar’s President launched it in April.

The World Health Organization (WHO) has, however, not endorsed it, although most African’s are not concerned about the WHO’s endorsement.

The tonic is produced from the artemisia plant – the source of an ingredient used in a malaria treatment – and other Malagasy plants.

With this development, Ghana’s Food and Drugs Authority (FDA) would be expected to study the drug and give a recommendation on it.
