The weekend is almost here–time to forget the weekday hassle, relax, and explore the cinematic world. The best way to relieve stress is to forget about your reality while you engulf yourself in a perfectly curated movie. We are here to create a watchlist for you–the best and hottest Nollywood movies currently gaining momentum. What’s better than the weekend? It’s a weekend with many movies to catch up with! It’s time to feel the pent-up emotions–tears, laughter, love and maybe a little bit of mystery.

First up, we have “Anikulapo: Rise Of The Sceptre.”

The long-awaited sequel to the 2022 Netflix original Anikulapo is a must-see. The epic fantasy follows the life of ‘Saro’ with new twists and suspense. The new series has been ranked as fans’ favourite, which showcases the rich African heritage while capturing the audience with the soothing eulogies alluded to the all-star cast. Anikulapo: The Rise of the Spectre ticks all the boxes for a great weekend watch, and we hope you enjoy it.

The movie has garnered over 27 million naira since its release, and it’s currently showing in a cinema near you. It’s time to feel the romance and thrill the movie has in store. It could be a solo date or friends hangout, but we also recommend a romantic hangout. ‘All’s Fair In Love’ definitely sets the mood 😉.

Third on the list is “One Too Many”

‘One Too Many’ blend issues of rape with the pervasive rot and decay in the Nigeria Police Force. It also covers the themes of injustice, police brutality, and the importance of family. The movie premiered on February 23, 2024, on Netflix, and it’s a great movie for the weekend.

We hope you now have a weekend to look forward to with the nicely curated watchlist just for you.
