The film tells the real story of women warriors of an all-time army. It is the remarkable story of the Agojie, the all-female unit of warriors who protected the African Kingdom of Dahomey in the 1800s with skills and a fierceness unlike anything the world has seen. These women defended the the West African kingdom of Dahomey in present-day Benin. 

The film stars Viola Davis as a general who trains the next generation of warriors to fight their enemies. It is directed by Gina Prince-Bythewood, written by Dana Stevens based on a story by Maria Bello and Stevens. In addition to Davis.
