THE AFRICAN ROOTS OF SALSA DANCE

People are often surprised when they see black people dancing salsa. They believe it’s foreign to Africa. But it isn’t because salsa started in Africa

Salsa is an old dance style that has its roots from two different sources. These are the Caribbean and African roots. The African slaves at that time wanted to have a dance type that goes well with European music. This was what gave birth to the Salsa dance steps.

The dance was brought into America as far back as the 60’s by Cuban exiles and Puerto Ricans. Today, the dance is mostly seen danced by those in Telenovelas that is Latinos. Salsa dance is well-known for its easy learning, making it one of the easiest dance steps to learn.
