Some of the most notable rulers in the pre-colonial and Post-colonial era include Amina,  the Queen of Zaria, Nigeria, Kandake – the empress of Ethiopia, Makeda – The Queen of Sheba, Ethiopia, Nefertiti – Queen of Ancient Kemet, Egypt, Yaa Asantewa – Ashanti Kingdom, Ghana, Queen Nandi – Zulu kingdom, South Africa and Queen Moremi – Ile-Ife Kingdom, Nigeria.
