Nigeria’s Falconets Qualify for Quarterfinals

The Under-20 women’s football team played against South Korea in the group stage match at the FIFA U-20 World Cup on Sunday, August 14, 2022. The match was scheduled for 9 pm last night but it got delayed due to heavy rain. The match eventually started at 10:15 pm.

The match remained goalless until a long-range strike from Esther Onyenezide in the 82nd minute resulted in the first goal of the match for Nigeria. The match ended 1-0 and this gave the Falconets triumph in their second match of the tournament.

The Falconets now have six points on the table and a place in the quarterfinals. They will face Canada in their final group game on Thursday, August 18, 2022.
