Nigerian celebrities and concerned citizens have taken to social media to react to the rape and brutal murder of Vera Uwaila Omozuwa; a 22-year-old 100-level student of the University of Benin, Edo State with the Hashtag: #JusticeForUwa.

Vera Uwaila was reportedly raped and killed inside a Redeemed Christian Church of God in Benin city by a group of unknown men who had entered the church, raping and hitting her with a fire extinguisher.

Uwaila’s death has moved people from all walks of life, including celebrities like Don Jazzy, Djinee, FireboyBML, and others, to lend their voice with the Hashtag #JusticeForUwa which is currently trending in the Nigerian Social Media Landscape, while her family appeal for help to track down her killers.

terrible times. incidents like this shouldn’t keep happening, we need to speak up and more importantly, do better as a people. stop raping and killing, e no make sense! let’s not destroy our future with our own hands. 🙏🏾💔#JusticeForUwa #JusticeForTina

Uwa's story breaks me. We all have to admit that our parents have failed woefully in the raising of the male child. Concentrating too much on the conduct of the female child when it's actually the males who have the higher propensity to do evil! #JusticeForUwa

Not again! Not again! I’m really speechless. Uwa deserves justice and Men should do better. #JusticeForUwa https://t.co/ArqyM4ObLh

She had just been admitted to the University of Benin to study microbiology. She was 22. Uwa's dream of becoming a nurse has now been dashed by rapists and murders. All she wanted to do was read. When will girls feel safe again? #JusticeForUwa pic.twitter.com/fslvHzgLb8
