Nigerian Chef Hilda Effiong Bassey, professionally known as Hilda Baci has broken the Guinness World Record for the longest Cook-A-Thon by an individual. The famous chef broke the 87 hours 45 minutes record held by the former Guinness World Record holder ‘Lata Tondon’ in the early hours of Monday, May 15, 2023.

Hilda Baci began her journey towards breaking the record on Thursday, May 11, 2023, at 4 pm Nigerian time. She has gotten support from fellow Nigerians and celebrities since she started the competition, as it’s a global feat for the nation. Celebrities like ‘Spyro,’ ‘Dremo,’ ‘Segun Johnson,’ and others performed at the venue, while the Governor of Lagos State Babajide Sanwo-Olu also visited the location in Lekki.

The 27-year-old chef has broken the World Record but she aims to continue cooking for 96 hours, which will set a new world record as the first person on the planet to spend that amount of time cooking. Hilda has gone from being a regular chef to a nationwide sensation, as ambassadorship deals and other gifts have been trooping in on her behalf.

Fans worldwide have sent in congratulatory messages as the chef records a new milestone. Hilda has previously participated in the maiden edition of the Jollof Face-off Competition in 2021, where she made the country proud by winning the competition for the best Jollof, and she walked away with a whooping $5000 cash prize.
