Green Clay also known as “French Green Clay”, combines potent absorbent and toning abilities. It can be used for both hair and skin. This versatile clay absorbs oils, toxins, and impurities. You can buy this clay in powder form from natural product stores or online at Amazon or Ebay.

For your skin
Green Clay has the ability to absorb excess sebum, making it very effective for oily skin. Try a homemade mask and use on a weekly basis. Here is a recipe you can try at home: Place 3 teaspoons of clay in a bowl and slowly add mineral water. Mix with a wooden spoon (do not use metal or plastic) until you get a uniform paste. Add a few drops of pure oil of your choice for a moisturizing effect. Argan, jojoba or almond oil are recommended for softening the skin. Using your bare hands, apply the mixture to your face, avoiding your eyes and lips. Men should use a clay mask after shaving, but before toning their skin. Let the mask dry on your skin for at least 15 minutes. Use this time to relax! To remove the mask, use a washcloth soaked with warm water. Rinse your face thoroughly and follow with a moisturizer or toner.

For your hair
Use the purifying properties of green clay to clarify your hair and get rid of any product buildup from daily styling. This homemade cleanser will leave your hair soft and moisturized, since French Green Clay does not dry out the hair or scalp. It is also a great remedy for dandruff. Place some French green clay in a bowl and mix it with aloe vera juice or mineral water until you get a uniform paste. Add peppermint oil to the mixture to stimulate the scalp. Apply the mixture to your hair from the roots to the ends. Once your hair is completely coated with the mixture, let it sit for 15 minutes but don’t allow the mixture to completely dry on your hair. Rinse off thoroughly. There is no need to follow up with a conditioner. Enjoy your soft hair and defined curls!
