“Ah- Let’s get now into another, underground spiritual game – Just go to help me the answer, go to say, “Aiya-kata”- Oh ya”

On August 1997, aged of 58 years old, the nigerian Fela Anikulapo Kuti, also known as Fela Kuti, put a term to his marriage with Life. Pioneer of the Afrobeat music genre, Fela Anikulapo Kuti was an activist supporter of human rights, and many of his songs are against dictatorships, specifically the militaristic governments of Nigeria in the 70s and 80s.

For Fela Anikulapo Kuti, the most important way for Africans to fight European cultural imperialism was to support traditional African religions and lifestyles.
And in accord with his beliefs, Fela Anikulapo Kuti always preached peace among Africans and advocated for a United Democratic African Republic.

Today, 22 years after, we decide to honor his career as musician and also his fight as human rights activist by sharing with you one of our favorite songs.
