Wizkid’s latest album, Morayo, has captured the spotlight, claiming the top spot in this week’s all-genre new music poll conducted by Billboard.
Published on November 22, the poll saw Morayo secure an impressive 78% of the vote, far outpacing releases by global heavyweights including ROSÉ, Kendrick Lamar, Lil Nas X, Jack Harlow, Quevedo, Miguel, Jelly Roll, and the Wickedsoundtrack, featuring Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo.
Released under Starboy Entertainment and RCA Records, Morayo—which translates to “I see joy” in Yoruba—lives up to its name, delivering emotional resonance and uplifting energy.
The album is a heartfelt tribute to Wizkid’s late mother, Juliana Morayo Balogun. “It’s very, very personal. I hope it lifts spirits and spreads positive energy,” the Nigerian superstar revealed in an interview with Esquire earlier this year.
The 16-track project builds on the success of his 2022 album, More Love, Less Ego, which reached No. 2 on the World Albums chart and No. 59 on the Billboard 200.
Morayo highlights Wizkid’s ability to fuse Afrobeats with diverse global sounds, featuring standout collaborations with Jazmine Sullivan, Brent Faiyaz, Asake, Anaïse, and Tiakola.
The album’s lead single, “Piece of My Heart” featuring Brent Faiyaz, debuted in October and made an impressive chart impact, peaking at No. 4 on the U.S. Afrobeats Songs chart and No. 7 on World Digital Song Sales.
Wizkid’s Morayo isn’t just an album—it’s a testament to his artistry and cultural impact, resonating deeply with fans around the globe.
