Akin Alabi’s ‘The Legend of Oronpoto’ tells a profound story in Yoruba history that captures the life and strides of Alaafin Oronpoto, Oyo’s first female Alaafin.

The animated film stars Wole Arole, Muyiwa Ademola, Omotunde ‘Lolo’ Adebowale-David and Bukunmi Oluwasina.

According to Yoruba historians, Alaafin Oronpoto was the daughter of Alaafin Ofinran and the granddaughter of Alaafin Onigbogi. She reigned from 1554 to 1562.
