Another Netflix-made movie, but this is from the South African movie industry – Sollywood. Silverton Siege is a movie based on a real-life event in South Africa in 1980. The movie is about three individuals who see themselves as freedom fighters during Nelson Mandela’s arrest. The freedom fighter takes hostage all the individuals in a bank and gives the condition that their hostages will only be released if Nelson Mandela is released.

What will this list be without mentioning the famous Ghanaian movie industry? Drops of happiness is a Ghanaian movie that tries to portray the extent of unemployment in the country. Lii Lantey, the lead character, is a first-class graduate who finds it difficult to find a job even after graduating with a superb result. He struggles to make sure that his family is comfortable. This movie is packed with tension and emotions. 

  1. THE MEN WE LOVE

This movie stars many Ghanaian movie stars, including Yvonne Nelson, Majid Michel, and Kofi Adjorlolo. This movie is about four women who, although they are not in any way related, have the same dreams and aspirations. The movie has emotions and, of course, drama in it.

This is a Netflix movie from the Nigerian movie industry. This movie is about a man who finds himself caught up in two worlds – that of faith and that of the world. Samuel, born in a Christian family and with a pastor’s father, grows up becoming the opposite of the kind of family he is brought up in. As a child, his father saw his nonchalant attitude toward religion and flogged him whenever he behaved in a way that was against the Christian religion. This movie has a mix of life, and it is a movie you don’t want to miss.

A Kenyan Netflix series that is right for the family. Kenya’s country queen is one of the country’s first Netflix movies. This movie is about a young woman centred in a capitalist society. The movie is about land struggles and exploitation in Kenyan society. If you’re looking for an African series to watch with your family, this is surely one not to miss. The movie series’ second season has rumours of being on the way.

  1. FATHER’S DAY 

An emotionally packed movie based in Rwanda. This movie is centred around characters going through one struggle, like a masseuse who lost her teenage song. Watching this movie will have your heart melt away.
