“They’re Threatening to Cancel My Show Over Economy Comment” – Davido

Afrobeats superstar Davido has claimed he is facing threats following his remarks about Nigeria’s struggling economy during an appearance on the American podcast Big Homies House.

In the interview, Davido advised U.S. citizens against relocating to Africa, particularly Nigeria, citing the country’s economic challenges and describing the situation as being in “shambles.”

His comments sparked backlash, with prominent Nigerians like Joe Igbokwe and Reno Omokri criticizing him publicly.

Responding to the criticism, Davido took to his X handle (formerly Twitter), asserting that entertainers like himself are the “real ambassadors.” He wrote, “Y’all mad ’cause we the real ambassadors!”

In a subsequent post, the singer alleged threats to cancel his Lagos show scheduled for December due to his remarks.

He wrote, “Dem say dem go cancel my show ’cause of my interview … loooool. I don’t have to perform in Nigeria.”
