TEMS MAKES HISTORY AT THE 65TH GRAMMY AWARDS

Internationally recognized Nigerian artiste Tems made history at the recently concluded ceremony of the prestigious American awards show, the Grammys, and her fans are celebrating their fave on different social media apps. The 65th awards ceremony of the Grammys was held on Sunday, February 5, 2023, in Los Angeles. The Grammys is one of the most anticipated and recognized music awards shows, and artistes look forward to attending the awards ceremony and winning a Grammy.

The Afrobeats queen and vocal powerhouse Tems won the award for Best Rap Melodic Performance due to her contribution to the viral hit song ‘Wait For You’ which she worked on alongside Future and Drake. The song was released in May 2022, and it created a buzz online when fans realized that the Nigerian Superstar was featured in the song. Tems now hold the title of the first Nigerian female artist to win a Grammy. Tems has shown that she is on the path to greatness, and the Afrobeats industry is super proud of the superstar.

Tems is steadily becoming one of the greatest exports of Afrobeats, and its no doubt that the big names in the industry now look forward to working with her. The trajectory of the singer’s career is well-known but it never ceases to amaze everyone. Tems became a global name due to her contribution to the hit song ‘Essence’ which would become the song of the summer weeks after its release. The singer got featured by Afrobeats king Wizkid on the song, which was one of the tracks of his fourth studio album ‘Made In Lagos.’

Some of the international awards won by the singer are the Best New Artist award at the 2022 Soul Train Awards, Best Collaboration at the 2022 BET Hip Hop Award for her contribution to Future’s ‘Wait For U’ ft Drake, and Best International Act at the 2022 BET Awards. The singer also recently bagged an Oscar nomination for her contribution to Rihanna’s ‘Lift Me Up’ which was the soundtrack to the Marvel movie ‘Black Panther II.’
