The 2024 AFCON has been a rollercoaster with teams playing with passion and patriotic citizens rating to get to the next stage. It’s a celebratory night for Nigeria and the Super Eagles as they make their way to the AFCON finals. The Super Eagles played against the Bafana Bafana of South Africa on Wednesday, February 7, 2024.
The match ended goalless in the first half and the Super Eagles returned stronger in the next half. Ekong scored the first goal for Nigeria in the 69th minute making the match 1-0, then Osimhen scored another goal that was cancelled due to a foul and a penalty was awarded to South Africa, Teboho Mokoena locked in the penalty making the game 1-1.
The game went on to extra time then to a penalty shoot-out which ended 4-2. The Super Eagles put their all in the game and are now through to the finals. This is Nigeria’s first qualification into the finals since 2013.
