Two days before the Ghanian Victory Concert, award-winning, Ghanian dancehall artist, Stonebwoy, has been removed from the lineup of artists to perform at the Ghanian Victory Concert due to pressure from the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
Under mounting pressure, the event organizers, alongside the NDC’s National Executive Council, announced Stonebwoy’s removal in a press statement issued on January 3, 2025. The organizers expressed regret over the decision, describing it as an effort to address the concerns of party loyalists.
The highly anticipated Ghana Victory Concert is organized to celebrate the National Democratic Congress (NDC)’s triumph in the 2024 elections and is slated to take place on the 5th of January 2025. Stonebwoy, initially announced as one of the headline acts, has been removed from the lineup following backlash from NDC supporters.
The controversy began shortly after the concert’s lineup was unveiled, with some NDC grassroots members voicing concerns over Stonebwoy’s inclusion. They cited alleged ties between the artist and the opposing New Patriotic Party (NPP), triggering a wave of criticism that quickly gained momentum on social media and within party circles.
“We sincerely apologize to all members of the National Democratic Congress, particularly the grassroots, for what may have appeared to be a lack of discretion on the part of the organizers,” the statement read. “We also extend our apologies to Stonebwoy and his team for this unfortunate outcome.”
As of the time of this publication, Stonebwoy has yet to comment on this recent development. While many fans and critics await his response, many supporters have called for the inclusion of artists like Mzbel and Nero X in the Ghana Victory Concert, claiming both have displayed open support for NDC compared to the Into The Future crooner.
