The title “Never Gets Late Here” holds a special meaning for Shenseea, as she tells Apple Music, “Hearing that name, it gave me a sense of timeless music. It just never gets old.”
This sentiment echoes the enduring quality of her music, which has evolved from her dancehall roots to embracing hip-hop and pop elements.
Shenseea’s journey began in the mid-2010s with a dancehall foundation and a cosign from Vybz Kartel. She later collaborated with Megan Thee Stallion and Kanye West, leading to her hip-hop-infused debut album ALPHA, featuring 21 Savage, Offset, Beenie Man, and Sean Paul.
Now, with “Never Gets Late Here,” Shenseea is in a position of creative strength, experimenting while maintaining her identity. “I’ve always been an artist who just always tries new things because that’s how magic happens,” she says.
The album caters to longtime fans with dancehall tracks like “Die for You” and “Tap Out,” while “Keep a Place” and “Neva Neva” deliver classic one-drop vibes. Shenseea also explores global sounds, collaborating with Anitta on “Red Flag” and Wizkid on “Work Me Out.”
To celebrate the release, Shenseea also dropped the official video for “Flava” (feat. Coi Leray). Shot in Kingston, Jamaica, during carnival season, the vibrant video perfectly captures the energy and spirit of the song.
Shenseea proudly declares, “My album is so versatile… It’s almost like you can like this one today—but tomorrow is a different day.” Unable to pick a favorite, she invites listeners to explore the diverse sounds and messages within “Never Gets Late Here.” Stream the album now and experience the magic for yourself!
