Serena Williams might have not won Wimbledon this year but that didn’t deter the superstar athlete from treating herself to a whole new post-tournament look.
A week after taking to the courts in England with long ombré curls, Williams arrived at the Sports Illustrated Fashionable Fifty party in Los Angeles with a new hairstyle that definitely won the night.
Instead of Williams’s signature voluminous natural curls, stylist Vernon François gave her a sleek, shiny blowout with big, loose waves in layers reaching to her mid-back. And while her roots were left brunette, the transition to blonde occurred much higher up than we’ve seen it in recent weeks, becoming a gorgeous warm honey shade well above her meticulously shaped brows.
This isn’t the first time the record-breaker has gone all but completely flaxen. She’s lightened up her naturally dark brown hair multiple times throughout her incredible career, dating as far back as 2001, when the not-quite-20-year-old debuted blonde braids at the U.S. Open.
