Nigerian singer and producer Pheelz has just released his new EP, Pheelz Good II.
The project is the second installment in the Pheelz Good trilogy series, and it explores a mix of Afrobeats, R&B, soul, and hip hop. It gives an intimate and honest insight into his identity.
Thematically, Pheelz Good II delves into various subjects, including love, relationships, as well as personal struggles and triumphs.
According to a statement, the new collection was inspired by the singer’s journey of self-discovery.
“I want to introduce the world to a new style of Afrobeats and also show people back home another way of interpreting the Afro spirit as I’ve been doing for over a decade now,” Pheelz said.
“Pheelz Good II is a fusion of different sides of Afrobeats. It creates a blend of emotions and the dance floor once again, through the unique spirit of Afrobeats. This project is an intimate reflection of my true self, where I unapologetically embrace my vulnerabilities and that passionate energy within. It’s about fully owning who I am and letting my audience connect with the raw, unfiltered version of myself.”
The EP kicks off with ‘Fever‘, a playful track featuring Niniola that captures the excitement of a new romantic encounter. This is followed by ‘Majo‘, which means “dance” in Yoruba, and it serves as a high-energy anthem inspired by a friend’s wedding and Nigeria’s owambe parties.
The EP then takes a more introspective turn with ‘Kamikaze‘, where Pheelz addresses life’s struggles and anxieties, while the mood shifts with ‘Yeye‘, which discusses the thrill and vulnerability of romance. The EP culminates with ‘Rotate‘, a celebration of connection and rhythm.
Pheelz started his career as a producer, collaborating with legends like Olamide, Davido, and Wizkid when he was a teenager. Throughout his career, he has also worked with pop icons Usher and Pharrell Williams and earned endorsements from Dr. Dre and Timbaland.
