Ololade Ayelabola has officially etched her name in history, setting a Guinness World Record for the longest distance walked on a catwalk by a model.
In October 2024, she covered an astounding 125.11 km (77.74 miles) over four days at the University of Lagos Indoor Sports Centre—completing 2,058 laps in the process.
Her achievement, now officially verified by Guinness World Records, exceeded her initial goal of 120 km, highlighting her perseverance and determination.
For Ololade, this record was about more than just endurance; it was a statement against restrictive industry standards. Having faced rejection from fashion shows due to her height, she sought to challenge conventional beauty norms and inspire other models.
“I’m not walking for myself alone,” she shared. “I’m walking for the many models who have been limited by stereotypes and standards set by rigid systems. I’m also walking to showcase the creativity of the Nigerian fashion industry.”
Throughout the challenge, Ololade wore outfits from a variety of Nigerian designers, transitioning from casual ensembles to traditional attire, further celebrating the diversity and innovation of Nigerian fashion.
