The 13th African Games which ran from March 8, 2024, to March 23, 2024, was held in Ghana, and we saw different African countries go head to head to emerge as the competitors with the most medals. Spectators both locally and internationally followed the games as they progressed, and it’s finally ended.
The Nigerian teams raised the country flag high, concluding the event in second place with 47 Gold medals, 33 Silver medals and 40 Bronze medals. Some of these wins are:
- Tobi Amusan’s third consecutive African Games Gold medal in the women’s 100m hurdles
- The women’s 4 x 100 meters gold medal which Tobi Amusan anchored
- Ese Brume’s Gold medal in the women’s long jump
- Blessing Oborududu and Odunayo Adekuoroye led the Nigerian team to win 11 medals in wrestling
Team Egypt won the Games with 101 gold, 46 silver and 42 bronze medals, while South Africa came third with 32 gold, 32 silver and 42 bronze medals. The next edition of the African Games will be held in Cairo, Egypt, in 2027.
