MTN Foundation Celebrates Musical Talent with MUSON Scholarship Programme

Since 2006, the MTN Foundation has been nurturing young musical talents through its Scholarship Programme in partnership with the Musical Society of Nigeria (MUSON).

The foundation proudly witnessed the graduation of its latest batch of musical scholars at MUSON Lagos.

Twenty-nine talented graduands celebrated their achievement, having completed their extensive studies in classical music, vocal and instrumental mastery, and other specialized certifications.

The graduation ceremony was a showcase of their remarkable skills, with standout performances by Lala Adebayo Gabriel, a gifted musician and bassist, and Maria Goretti Nnaji, a powerful singer.

Lala Adebayo Gabriel’s story is one of remarkable growth and achievement. He joined the program with just two grade 5 certificates but is now leaving with an impressive ten professional certificates! He has mastered multiple skills, including playing the double and electric bass, music production, mixing, and mastering, choir directing, and film sound engineering.

Executive Director of MTN Foundation, Odunayo Sanya, praised Lala’s accomplishments and highlighted the foundation’s commitment to youth development in Nigeria, despite the challenging economic conditions.

“Our continued support for this program shows our dedication to empowering young Nigerians like Lala, who are the future of our nation.”

As the graduates celebrated their achievement, they were charged to become agents of change in their communities.

“Even if you don’t pay it forward in MUSON, continue to pay it forward, remembering that some people took a chance on you, and that’s why you are here today.”

The MTN Foundation and MUSON scholarship program is committed to empowering talented yet underprivileged Nigerian youths, providing them with the support they need to succeed.
