Nigerian singer-songwriter and producer Milar has just announced the release of his debut single, “Sweet Rhythm.”
Distributed by Sony Music West Africa, “Sweet Rhythm” aims to showcase his unique sound, blending Afrobeats, pop, R&B, and trap elements. The song reflects Afro-fusion style and explores romantic themes, inspired by Milar’s past relationship.
Prior to this release, Milar contributed to his sister and popstar Ayra Starr’s album “The Year I Turned 21” by featuring on the track “1942,” which delves into their childhood dreams and pursuit of success against all odds.
Milar has confirmed that “Sweet Rhythm” is the first single from an upcoming EP, expressing his desire to connect with his audience through his music.
“I’ve been quiet for long enough. I can’t be heard if I don’t speak up. I want to be heard so I put a part of me out there that everyone can relate to and cross my fingers. I’m gonna stay humble and I’m gonna make sure people love what I do enough to make me want be a part of their everyday life,” Milar stated.
At just 19 years old, Milar has already established himself as a songwriter and producer under the Don Jazzy-led Mavin Records.
He started making music at a young age in Cotonou and continued his journey in Lagos, where he joined his family’s church choir. Influenced by the choir, Milar developed a passion for guitar and music production.
Milar’s songwriting credits include contributions to Ayra Starr’s album “19 & Dangerous,” as well as tracks like “Bloody Samaritan” and “Beggie Beggie” featuring CKay.
Additionally, he has penned songs for Johnny Drille’s album “Before We Fall Asleep,” including “Lies (To Whom It May Concern)” and “Driving In The Rain.
