Masaka Kids Africana is an orphanage in Uganda. It is composed of African children, from the age of two years, upward. Many have lost one or both parents through the devastation of war, famine and disease.
There are more orphans in Uganda than anywhere else in the world — over 2.4 million children — due to the AIDS epidemic, extreme poverty, and decades of civil conflict. Masaka Kids Africana sponsors children who have gone through some of the worst experiences anyone could face — but through dance and song, these children are given hope for a better future.
“We dance for laughter, we dance for tears, we dance for madness, we dance for fears, we dance for hopes, we dance for screams, we are the dancers, we create the dreams.”
– Masaka Kids Africana
The children touch the hearts of audiences with their bright smiles, African tunes, and their lovely dance moves. Their performances are always concluded with a thunderous standing ovation. Their music and dance brings inspiration to every listener because regardless of the tragedy that has marred their young lives, the children are full of hope, musically gifted and wonderfully entertaining.
