‘Jewel’, is set to premiere 18th April in Lagos, bringing a bold, futuristic twist to classic Nigerian literature.
Inspired by Nobel laureate Wole Soyinka’s The Lion and the Jewel and Ola Rotimi’s Our Husband Has Gone Mad Again, the musical reimagines these literary masterpieces with contemporary musical elements, innovative staging, and cutting-edge production design.
The highly anticipated show will run during the Easter weekend, with performances on April 18 and 19 at the Eko Hotel Convention Center, Victoria Island, Lagos.
In a statement, the organizers described The Jewel as “the most anticipated theatre production of the season.” The musical has already begun generating excitement among theatre critics, with some praising it as “jaw-dropping” and a bold redefinition of Broadway-style excellence in Africa.
