Burna Boy, the Grammy-winning Nigerian singer, has teamed up with US artiste Shaboozey for a new single titled ‘Change Your Mind’.
The track, released across streaming platforms on Tuesday, is the latest from Burna Boy’s upcoming album ‘No Sign of Weakness’ set to be released on July 11.
‘Change Your Mind’ blends Burna Boy’s rhythmic, emotionally charged Afro-fusion style with Shaboozey’s gritty, southern-rooted storytelling in an anthem about love, ego, and vulnerability.
“When the love runs out and the lights go off/ Wanna leave this on a high, I’m hoping I can change your mind (2x)/ I know I broke your heart, left you in the dark/ Now you think love is hard to find, I’m hoping I can change your mind,” they sing.
“You’re feeling abandoned, I’ve been out on the road, left you stranded/ Painting the perfect picture on a canvas/ I know this shit ain’t going how we planned it/ You know that it’s thorns and roses, but baby we gon’ keep on growing.”
The track, listed as the 15th on Burna Boy’s upcoming album, was first teased during an after-party following the 67th Grammy Awards.
The ‘African Giant’ hitmaker also announced that the song’s visuals will be released on Friday.
Born Damini Ogulu, Burna Boy gained fame after releasing ‘Like to Party’, the lead single from his debut album ‘L.I.F.E’ (2013).
Since then, he has released seven albums: ‘L.I.F.E’ (2013), ‘On a Spaceship’ (2015), ‘Outside’ (2018), ‘African Giant’ (2019), ‘Twice As Tall‘ (2020), ‘Love, Damini‘ (2022) and ‘I Told Them‘ (2023).
He has also won several awards. In 2021, the Afro-fusion artiste won the ‘Best World Music Album’ category at the Grammy Awards for ‘Twice As Tall’.
Real name Collins Obinna Chibueze, Shaboozey’s music combines hip-hop, country, and Americana.
He received nominations at the 67th Annual Grammy Awards for Song of the Year, Best New Artist, Best Country Song, Best Country Solo Performance, and Best Melodic Rap Performance
