Ayra Starr has officially become the first Nigerian female artist to surpass 1 billion views on YouTube, setting a new milestone in the country’s music history.
At just 23, the Mavin Records star has overtaken Yemi Alade—who previously held the record with 805 million views—to become the most viewed Nigerian female artist of all time on the platform.
Leading the charge is her Grammy-nominated hit single “Rush,” which alone has amassed over 450 million views, significantly contributing to her new record-breaking total.
With this achievement, Ayra Starr joins an elite list of Nigerian music heavyweights who have crossed the 1 billion mark on YouTube, including Burna Boy, Wizkid, Davido, Rema, Kizz Daniel, P-Square, CKay, Omah Lay, Fireboy, Tekno, and Flavour.
