D’TIGRESS of Nigeria survived a late rally to beat host Senegal 60-55 and retain the Women Afrobasket title In Dakar on Sunday. The D’Tigress looked to be coasting home after the third quarter but the Senegalese came back strong in the last quarter to take a brief lead before the Nigerian rallied back to win the game despite losing the final quarter to the host. It was the D’Tigress who seized the initiative early in the game racing to a 10-4 lead. Though the Senegalese fought back gallantly, the first quarter ended 14-10 in favour of Nigeria. Steve Harvey was emotional as he walked through a slave trade site in Ghana -- where countless Africans were brutalized and tortured ... and the photos are tough to see. The legendary comedian and daytime talk show host was with his family Friday visiting the Elmina Castle on the Cape Coast -- where they were getting a tour and being briefed on the dark past of the trading post that was erected by the Portuguese in the 1400s. FIFA bans former Nigeria coach Samson Siasia for life

Former Nigeria coach Samson Siasia has been banned for life and fined $50,000 by Fifa for agreeing to 'the manipulation of matches.' Siasia was coach of Nigeria between 2010-2011 and for a spell in 2016 but the time period when Fifa believes he committed his infractions is unclear. He has also served as coach of the country's Under-20 and Under-23 sides. In a statement, Siasia was found 'guilty of having accepted that he would receive bribes in relation to the manipulation of matches.' The sanction stems from an ongoing 'large-scale investigation' Fifa is conducting into the behaviour of Wilson Raj Perumal, a convicted match-fixer from Singapore.
