Madagascar’s President Okays ‘COVID-Organics’ Tonic as Right Treatment for Coronavirus

Madagascar’s President Andry Rajoelina says those who continue to criticize the COVID-19-Organics tonic are detractors. While speaking in an interview with France24, Rajoelina said, ‘’If it was a European country that had actually discovered this remedy, would there be so much doubt? I don’t think so.’’ He added that, ‘’African Scientists should not be underestimated. I think the problem is that the tonic comes from Africa and they can’t admit...that a country like Madagascar has come up with this formula to save the world.’’ Rajoelina has also claimed that the tonic "cures" patients within 10 days. In Guinea: Protesters Clash with Police over COVID-19 Measures

Six protesters in Guinea have been reportedly killed following clashes with the police who set up roadblocks in a bid to curb the spread of the coronavirus outbreak According to reports, the clash happened in Coyah and Dubreka with protesters claiming that they are being mistreated and extorted by authorities when entering and exiting the capital city. The Government has not issued any official response with regards to the protest. You would recall the total number of Coronavirus cases in Guinea stands at 2298 with 11 deaths thus far according to BBC’s Coronavirus in Africa tracker. The West African country is one of the hardest hit countries in the region.

Lesotho Records First Case of Coronavirus

Lesotho has become the last African country to record COVID-19 cases reportedly from a traveller who had visited Saudi Arabia. This past wednesday, South Africa reported that out of 81 tests that have been conducted on travellers from South Africa and Saudi Arabia, one was positive. Lesotho is still awaiting the results of an additional 301 tests. Reports of the outbreak comes at a politically uncertain time as Lesotho’s Prime Minister, Thomas Thabane is set to resign this week following  the collapse of his coalition in parliament in addition to having been charged for the murder of his former wife almost three years ago.
