Newcastle’s hopes of landing Cavani receives major boost

Newcastle's hopes of luring Uruguayan star Edinson Cavani to St James Park has received a major boost as Paris St Germain are unlikely to renew his current contract.  According to Express Sports, 33-year old Cavani will have his current deal expire with PSG in June,  letting him become a free agent from July 1. Cavani has been courted by several English club's in the past including Manchester United and Chelsea, but Newcastle are likely to land the top striker this summer.

La Liga resumes training today

La Liga officials have declared today May 18th for clubs to restart training ahead of possible resumption and completion of the 2019/2020 football season.  The Spanish top-flight was suspended on March 12 due to the COVID-19 outbreak,  hence all footballing activities were put on hold.  Training will resume on Monday and will hold in small groups of ten players each. La Liga President Javier Tebas on Sunday made the announcement while on a TV show that preparations are on ground for football to resume soon in Spain.

Premier league players set to resume training

The English Premier League has released a statement allowing players to resume training as the league is under review on ways of resumption after the long break caused by the COVID-19 Pandemic.  The decision to resume training came after Premier league clubs voted for their players to return to training in small groups next week.  Last week, the government said it had "opened the door" for the return of elite sport, but several hurdles remain before the Premier League can resume behind closed doors. A group of five players will take part in each phase of trainings amidst possible resumption of the league next month.

South Africa bans kissing on TV Amid Coronavirus Pandemic

In a bid to combat the spread of Coronavirus in South Africa, Government have banned the act of kissing on South African TV. Kissing or any facial intimacy in any performance won’t be allowed on South African TV. You may recall that the Country’s film and TV industry were given go-ahead by the government to resume production following a month-long suspension.  Since President Cyril Ramaphosa announced he would be slowly re-opening the economy, quite a number of industries have reopened, in what is known to be level four of the lockdown. Those industries are still required to adhere strictly to the lockdown rules and regulations.

Dortmund records emphatic Victory against Schalke as Bundesliga kick-start amidst COVID-19 pandemic

Borussia Dortmund recorded an emphatic 4 - 0  victory against Schalke 04 in a match day 26 fixture of the German Bundesliga as the German authorities dared the coronavirus Pandemic in order to complete the 2019/2020 football season.   Erling Halaand (1), Raphael Guerreiro (2) and Thorgan Hazard (1) all scored as Dortmund set the tone for a fight-to-finish race against league leaders Bayern Munich.  The Bavarians who are now one point ahead of Dortmund will trade tackle with Union Berlin today Sunday as they seek to further extend their lead on the log.

Manchester City’s Gabriel Jesus To Receive Whopping 120k Pounds Weekly

Manchester City forward Gabriel Jesus is set to be handed a new and improved deal worth £120,000 a week to ward off mounting interest from Juventus.  Jesus joined the Citizens from Palmeiras in 2017 and has since scored 37 goals in 92 appearances. Paul Pogba's continued transfer link away from Manchester United has met a new dimension as Juventus are weighing up an offer for the Frenchman in the summer.  Pogba, before the COVID-19 break had a bad season for United which was hampered with injuries. The arrival of Portuguese star Bruno Fernandes could lure the heirachy at the Manchester club to let the 27-year-old go.  Former PSG midfielder Adrian Rabiot, who has been monitored by United in past seasons is said to be seen as a makeshift. Should any deal go through for Pogba to return to the club he left for Manchester United in 2016.

Chelsea could receive a £46 million pounds boost as they try to raise funds for English sensation Jordan Sancho should Alvaro Morata make his loan stay with Athletico Madrid Permanent.  Morata has been with the Spanish side on loan in the past two seasons and has been on form for the Spanish Capital club. Sancho has been on the want list of both Chelsea and Manchester United but the price tag set by Dortmund for the 19-year old is far from what both clubs can offer, but Chelsea could be handed a boost should the striker remain in Spain.

Chelsea-bound Hakim Ziyech named Ajax player of the year

Chelsea-bound Moroccan star Hakim Ziyech has been named Ajax player of the year for the third time in four seasons following a brilliant run of form for the club this season.  Ziyech, 27 has scored six goals from the flank and has created 12 assists making him the best player for the Amsterdam club.  Ziyech will officially be unveiled as a Chelsea player on July 1 after signing a four-year deal worth €40 million in January 2020, his fans took to twitter to wish him a farewell as he moves to Stamford Bridge.
