Ghana Receives Madagascar’s Covid-19 ‘Cure’, Undergoes Testing

The Government of Ghana on Wednesday, 20 May, 2020 received Madagascar’s COVID-19 cure and its currently undergoing testing. This follows shortly after President Nana Akufo Addo received heavy scrutiny from locals for endorsing the UN Aid vaccine.  Before now, there has been pressure mounted on government locally to contact the African country for the medication after Andry Rajoelina, Madagascar’s President launched it in April. The World Health Organization (WHO) has, however, not endorsed it, although most African’s are not concerned about the WHO’s endorsement. The tonic is produced from the artemisia plant – the source of an ingredient used in a malaria treatment – and other Malagasy plants. With this development, Ghana’s Food and Drugs Authority (FDA) would be expected to study the drug and give a recommendation on it.

Burundi’s rebel president set to vacate as citizens turn out for voting despite COVID-19 outbreak

The country of Burundi on Wednesday saw its citizens turn out in thousands to vote for a new President despite the CoronaVirus outbreak as the 15-year reign of Pierre Nkurunziza comes to an end. Nkurunziza had  reigned in Burundi for three terms since 2015 with human rights being violated and over 400,000 citizens fleeing to neighboring countries for safety. Pierre Nkurunziza Former Army General, Mr. Ndayishimiye who worked  as Cabinet minister for interior and security for Nkurunziza is  the candidate for the ruling party which has Mr. Rwasa as its main challenger. Mr. Rwasa preached about change in one of his campaign grounds as he kicked against the injustice by the ruling party. Rwasa said "Life is becoming more and more unbearable, the time for change has come".

Showers of tribute as British rail worker dies after being coughed at by a CoronaVirus patient

British rail worker, Belly Mujinga died a few days after a man who was said to be a CoronaVirus patient coughed at her and a colleague while at work at the London Victoria Train Station. Mujinga, was said to have contracted the virus on March 22nd while on duty and passed on two weeks later. British Prime Minister Boris Johnson described the death as "tragic" and "utterly appalling". The 47-year old woman left behind an 11-year-old daughter, Ingrid who her father says has barely spoken since the incident occurred. Mujinga was laid to rest as only ten people were allowed to attend the burial as a precautionary measure against the spread of the CoronaVirus pandemic.

Nigerian rapper, Jesse Jagz, has announced a new project which is titled 'Garba.' The rapper has had an on-off relationship with record label, Chocolate City, which his brother, Nigerian rapper, M.I, is signed to. Jesse Jagz has however remained under the label, Jagz Nation, since leaving Chocolate City in 2017 after which he released his last album, Odysseus in the same year.
