Residents of a Kenyan village awarded $12 million in a Civil lawsuit

A community in Kenya whose children and residents were sickened by lead from a battery smelting plant has been awarded $12 million (1.3 billion Kenyan shillings) following a civil lawsuit. The case has led the court to serve an order to the government to clean up Owino Uhuru, a village on the outskirts of Mombasa, within four months and gave the relevant agencies 90 days to pay out the compensation money. The ruling comes after years of grassroots work by environmental activist Phyllis Omido, who launched a legal challenge against the government and the smelting plant owners, accusing them of violating of Kenyan environmental and human rights law and exposing the community to lead poisoning. MHD: rapper released under judicial supervision

Rapper MHD, who was indicted and imprisoned since January 2019 was released on Thursday under judicial supervision. He was in prison for "intentional homicide" following a deadly brawl in Paris in the summer of 2018. A source close to the case told AFP that the musician's lawyer confirmed that he had been released in the middle of the day. New York Police arrest Suspected murderer of Gokada CEO Saleh

The new york police have arrested the personal assistant of Gokada founder, Fahim Saleh , in connection of cold-blooded murder of the 33-year-old tech entrepreneur. We earlier reported that Saleh’s decapitated body was found in his $2.25 million luxury home  on Manhattan’s Lower East Side on Tuesday, July 14. An American woman who was cajoled and invited to Nigeria by a man she met on Facebook has been rescued after spending more than a year in captivity, according to the local police.
