The Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) has finally reopened its airspace after being closed for nearly five months as a result of the global Coronavirus pandemic. It received its first commercial passenger flight on saturday. Border health officials were seen taking the temperature of each passenger after a mandatory hand washing with chlorinated water. "It takes a little longer, but that's the price to pay for a trip without risk of contamination,"  reacted Aristotle Kabengele, who was on his way to Paris via the Ethiopian capital Addis Ababa. Somali special forces has ended a siege at a hotel in the capital Mogadishu that was stormed by armed al-Shabab militants. Report says 12 people were killed at the beachside Elite Hotel, in addition to five militants, according to the police. The attackers detonated a car bomb outside the hotel on Sunday before storming it and seizing hostages. It was gathered that the recently built hotel is owned by an MP and is popular with officials. Witnesses said the initial blast was heard across Mogadishu and there was chaos as people fled the area. Security forces sealed off the hotel and exchanged fire with the gunmen inside. About 1,072 migrants who sailed to the edge of Greece’s water territory on inflatable life rafts have been abandoned by Greek authorities. According to New York Times analysed evidence from multiple sources, including academic researchers, the Turkish Coast Guard, and independent watchdogs groups. They found that there were at least 31 different incidents of these expulsions in the past few months.  Najma al-Khatib, a 50-year-old Syrian teacher told The Times that on July 26, she and 22 others including babies were taken by masked Greek officials from a detention centre on the island of Rhodes while it was dark outside. Following a song written and circulated on WhatsApp by a 22-year-old gospel singer, the Nigerian Sharia court in Kano has sentenced the singer to death by hanging for alleged blasphemy act. The Hausawa Filin Hockey upper-Sharia court found Yahaya Sharif-Aminu guilty of blaspheming the Prophet Muhammed by praising a local imam from the Tijaniya Muslim brotherhood in one line of a song circulated by Sharif-Aminu in March. Sharif-Aminu did not deny the charges. However, Sharia Judge Aliyu Muhammad Kani said Sharif-Aminu could appeal the ruling within 90 days. The prosecutor, Inspector Aminu Yargoje, said the verdict was fair because it would deter future blasphemy in the state. The Sharia courts are a separate Muslim-only court system used along with civil courts in majority-Muslim areas of Nigeria.
