ACCELERATE TV LAUNCHES STREAMING APP CALLED ACCELERATE PLUS

Accelerate TV, which is powered by Access Bank, launched its streaming app. The app was launched to power Africa's creative content. Movies made in Africa have been marked as significant exports for the continent, drawing the likes of Netflix to set up shop in countries like Nigeria and South Africa. With the release of a streaming app called Accelerate Plus, the Nigerian digital entertainment company Accelerate TV has joined the list of companies streaming African content to the world. Users can access the Accelerate Plus app in all 54 African countries and some European and American countries where African content is in demand.

NGO Offers Scholarship to 5,000 African Students

Africa Skills Centre (ASC), a non-governmental organisation, has announced the award of scholarship and other incentives to 5,000 students of African descent, drawn from the three sub-regions where it is currently domiciled. The ASC is the largest online training hub in Africa, with physical offices in Nigeria, Kenya and South Africa. The organisation said it would be carrying out the scholarship award programme in Nigeria, in collaboration with the Nigeria Excellence Awards organisation, which currently covers South-West, South-East, South-South, and North-Central geopolitical zones. The Nigeria Excellence Awards is code-named, SNEAWARDS. Former South African footballer killed in crash

Anele Ngcongca, a former South African defender who played for the host team at the 2010 World Cup died in a car crash yesterday. He was 33 years old. The South African government said Ngcongca died in the crash in the Kwazulu-Natal province. South African media reports said he was a passenger in the car and the driver, a woman, was in the hospital in critical condition. She was not identified. Ngcongca played for South Africa from 2009 to 2016. He made 53 appearances for Bafana Bafana and was a member of the team when South Africa hosted the 2010 World Cup.
