Asake, the Nigerian singer, made a special appearance at the ongoing Major League Soccer (MLS) in New York.
The Afrobeats star was honoured with the ceremonial coin toss at the match between New York Red Bulls and Columbus.
In an Instagram post on Sunday, Asake shared photos and videos from the event, where he posed with players and referees before kick-off.
“Asake music gives you wings,” he captioned the post.
The appearance adds to Asake’s growing global influence, as the music star continues to break into international spaces beyond the stage.
Born Ahmed Ololade, Asake rose to fame in 2020 with his hit song ‘Lady’. The singer joined YBNL in February 2022.
He has released three studio albums, ‘Mr Money With The Vibes’ (2022), ‘Work of Art’ (2023) and ‘Lungu Boy’ (2024).
The Afrobeats sensation was nominated for 2025 Grammy Awards in the ‘Best African Music Performance’ category. He, however, lost the category to Tems.
In February, he delivered his first single ‘Why Love’ under his new label ‘Giran Republic’.
This marks a new chapter in his career after parting ways with YBNL Nation, the record label owned by Olamide.
