2020 has been a lot; it’s been full of ups and downs. Certainly, a lot of those ups have definitely come from the plethora of new music we have enjoyed this year – especially the past couple of months. In addition to that, Davido is here trying to give us “A Better Time” in what seems like a follow-up to “A Good Time”.

Earlier in the year, Davido sat with Complex to discuss the album. In the interview, he revealed that he didn’t plan on recording A Better Time in 2020. With the original plans set for him to currently tour the world, the COVID-19 pandemic had other plans, unfortunately.

“The pandemic had a lot to do with it because I was on tour, which I had to stop – If I was on tour, I’m not sure I would’ve had time to really record but being in Lagos, at home, I was recording and recording so many songs and it ended up being really good. It took about two or three months but when I first started recording it, I had no plan, I just wanted to have fun with it.”

He returned to Lagos and set up shop in his home studio, working at all hours. In a few months, they churned out more than three dozen songs; “I just kept on recording. I had nothing else to do”, Davido says.

A Better Time is a 17 track album that features a truckload of star power. From international heavyweights such as Nicki Minaj, Chris Brown, Young Thug, Nas, Lil Baby. To African superstars like Sauti Sol, Tiwa Savage, Mugeez, Mayorkun, Bella Shmurda, Sho Madjozi, and C Kay. It seems everyone wanted to join in on the party.

“My sophomore album was called A Good Time, so, obviously, A Better Time, it’s a better album. Certainly, I took my time. Better visuals, better production, everything as a whole package.” Do you agree? Take a listen and tell us what you think.
