Adekunle Gold, the Nigerian singer, has released his sixth studio album ‘Fuji,’ a project he hails as his “greatest work yet”.

The 15-track album arrived on all streaming platforms in the early hours of Friday.
Announcing the release on Instagram, the singer declared, “THIS IS THE DAY THE LORD HAS MADE FUJI OUT NOW. A new decade. A new sound. A new legacy. This is BIG FISH!”
‘Fuji’ is a powerful return to his Nigerian roots. Gold revealed that the body of work is a deeply personal narrative, weaving together stories of his lessons, friendships, victories, grief, and the joy of fatherhood. He described it as a reflection on the essence of why he began making music.
Last month, the singer said it took him five years to complete the project, describing it as “my greatest work yet”.
He revealed that ‘Simile’, a deeply personal song to him, was once submitted to and rejected by Beyoncé’s team.
The 38-year-old said ‘Simile’ — a Yoruba term meaning “rest on me” originated from one of the most challenging periods of his life: the loss of his father in 2019.
Gold first rose to prominence in 2015 with his hit track ‘Sade’, a highlife cover of One Direction’s ‘Story of My Life’. After a stint with YBNL Nation, he departed and has since built an impressive independent career through his own imprint Afro Urban Records, alongside a strategic deal with Def Jam Recordings.
His prolific discography includes the albums ‘Gold’ (2016), ‘About 30’ (2018), ‘Afro Pop, Vol. 1’ (2020), ‘Catch Me If You Can’ (2022), and ‘Tequila Ever After’ (2023).
