That 2022 sequel paid tribute to the late Chadwick Boseman, who brought T’Challa to life beginning with Captain America: Civil War in 2016. After Boseman’s death in 2020, Marvel chose not to recast the role, instead elevating Letitia Wright’s Shuri as the new protector of Wakanda.
