The highly anticipated film adaptation of Tomi Adeyemi’s bestselling novel, Children of Blood and Bone, has expanded its cast with a blend of Nollywood icons and rising stars.
Among the latest additions are Afrobeats sensation Ayra Starr and veteran Nigerian actor Richard Mofe-Damijo, further enriching an already star-studded lineup.
Also joining the production are Pamilerin Ayodeji, Shamz Garuba, British-Nigerian basketball star Temi Fagbenle, Zackary Momoh, Kola Bodunde, and Saniyya Sidney.
They will appear alongside Thuso Mbedu, who leads the film as Zélie, the young warrior at the heart of the story. Tosin Cole plays her brother Tzain, while Amandla Stenberg and Damson Idris take on the roles of Princess Amari and Prince Inan. Chiwetel Ejiofor is set to portray King Saran, with Academy Award winner Regina King as Queen Nehanda.
The film also boasts an impressive lineup of global stars, including Viola Davis, Idris Elba, Cynthia Erivo, and Lashana Lynch.
Directed by Gina Prince-Bythewood, Children of Blood and Bone is set in the mythical kingdom of Orïsha, where magic was once powerful but was nearly wiped out by King Saran. After the devastating Raid left the maji powerless, Zéliediscovers a chance to restore their lost abilities. Alongside her brother and the rebellious Princess Amari, she embarks on a perilous journey to reignite magic—while Prince Inan, determined to uphold his father’s rule, will do anything to stop them.
Filming is scheduled to begin in South Africa, with a theatrical release planned for early 2027.
