Global Afrobeats icon Davido has released a brand-new single titled ‘Funds’, enlisting the talents of rapper Odumodublvck and singer Chike.
‘Funds’ is a teaser from Davido’s highly anticipated forthcoming album, ‘5IVE’.
‘Funds’ also pays homage to South African music legend Brenda Fassie, as Davido samples her 1997 classic ‘Vuli Ndlela’. The infusion of Fassie’s timeless melody adds a nostalgic yet refreshing layer to the track, showcasing Davido’s ability to honor African musical heritage while pushing creative boundaries.
In the track, the artistes croon about their intentions to spend their funds on a mystery lady recklessly.
“Mismanage my funds on you/ All I really wanna do is/ I’ll mismanage my funds/ They wanna stop me/ Mismanage my funds on you/ All I wanna do is/ Mismanage my funds on you/ All I really wanna do is/ I’ll Mismanage my funds/ They wanna stop me/ Mismanage my funds on you,” they sing.
In an Instagram post, Davido said ‘Funds’ is dedicated to “everyone chasing their dreams”.
Davido also took the opportunity to share insights about his upcoming album, ‘5IVE’, set for release in 2025. The project promises to be deeply personal, as he describes it as “my story, my truth, and my growth.”
“My people. The journey continues in 2025 with my new album ‘5IVE’. This is straight from the heart — my story, my truth and my growth,” he wrote.
“We are not waiting though. Tonight midnight I am dropping a single ‘Funds’ with Odumodublvck and Chike.
