John Legend Teams Up with Tems for Deluxe Edition of “Get Lifted”

John Legend has released an expanded version of “Get Lifted” to commemorate the album’s 20th anniversary.

Legend announced the release of the 26-track album in an Instagram post on Friday.

The singer said “Get Lifted” is a celebration of the 20th anniversary of his debut project of the same name, which was released in 2004.

“We have been working on some really special ways to celebrate 20 years of Get Lifted, including a 20th Anniversary Edition of the album which features all the original songs,” he said.

“Plus all-new remixes featuring some of my favorite artists, along with some unreleased demos from the early 2000s.”

In the revamped album, Legend features Tems, the Nigerian singer, on the remix of “Ordinary People,” the 19th track.

Tems had delivered a memorable rendition of the iconic song in 2021. In September, during her “Born in the Wild” US tour, the songstress performed the track alongside Legend in New York.

Legend released the original “Get Lifted” as his debut studio album in 2004. The album reached the top 10 of the Billboard 200 chart and received several accolades, including double platinum certification by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) and three Grammy awards.

Tems, on the other hand, gained popularity in 2020, courtesy of her collaboration with Wizkid, the Afrobeats singer, on the song “Essence”.

Last year, the songstress won her first-ever Grammy award for her role in “Wait for U”, the 2022 hit song by Future featuring Drake.
