Mavin Records has just dropped “Hard Guy Confessions”, a highly anticipated seven -track EP from Nigerian singer-songwriter Johnny Drille and legendary producer Don Jazzy.
This collaboration marks one of the year’s most exciting musical moments, following their previous hits like “How Are You (My Friend)” and “Believe Me.”
In a post to his 1.5 million Instagram followers, Johnny Drille reflected on the surprise of working with Don Jazzy: “Tell me just a few years ago that I’d be making music with Don Jazzy, and I’d laugh it off as a ridiculous joke—but here we are.”
Don Jazzy also shared his thoughts: “Even though we guys like to act tough, when we lose someone we truly love, it hurts deeply. Johnny Drille and I pour out our emotions on Hard Guy Confessions.”
The EP explores themes of love, heartbreak, and vulnerability, blending Afrobeats with influences from funk, reggae, and more. The collection showcases both artists’ unique styles, as they co-produced every track, creating a cohesive and deeply personal sound.
“Hard Guy Confessions” also marks a significant milestone for Don Jazzy, as it’s his first lead project.
The EP serves as a preview of Johnny Drille’s upcoming “Johnny’s Room Live” concert series, which will hit four major Nigerian cities—Lagos, Abuja, Benin, and Port Harcourt.
