Afrobeat star Burna Boy has addressed allegations of disrespecting legendary reggae band Steel Pulse at the recent Summer Jam Festival in Germany.
David Hinds, the guitarist for Steel Pulse, accused Burna Boy’s security team of trying to take over their dressing room to accommodate the singer’s entourage. He also claims that a barricade was set up to separate the two artists’ areas.
In light of the online controversy, Burna Boy provided a concise statement.
“I don’t even know what they look like,” he said, implying a lack of familiarity with Steel Pulse. He continued, “I don’t disrespect people. If I disrespect you, it’s because you did something…”
Burna Boy’s comments have not quelled the debate, but fans see his remarks as a defense, implying that the situation may not be as it seems.
As of today, neither the Summer Jam Festival organizers nor Steel Pulse have responded to Burna Boy’s comments.
