It’s a celebratory week for Nollywood actress Funke Akindele after news of her new achievement hit the internet. The actress and movie producer recorded a new feat in her career after her recently released movie ‘A Tribe Called Judah’ grossed at one billion naira, making it the highest grossing movie in West Africa, and the first Nollywood movie to gross one billion naira in box office.
‘A Tribe Callled Judah’ directed by Funke Akindele and Adeoluwa Owu was released on December 15, 2023, and it grossed at 400 million naira in the first 12 days of release. Funke Akindele is known for her exceptional blockbuster movies, and she has gone above the record held by her previous movies Omo Ghetto: The Saga grossing 636m in 2020, and Battle on Buka Street at 668m in 2022.
