Three Nigerian albums make Rolling Stone Top 500 Albums

The Nigerian music industry is filled with many spectacular artists who have managed to sell their craft to the international market. The Afrobeats genre has evolved through the years and the artists have earned international recognition. Nigerian artists are known for bagging prestigious awards and certifications, and a selected few have earned a new feat in 2024.

Rolling Stone recently released a list of their Top 500 albums of all time, and three Nigerian albums made the cut. The first Rolling Stone list was released in 2003, and more genres were included as time evolved. The three albums that were listed are:

  • Burna Boy’s ‘African Giant’ at #330
  • Fela Anikulapo and Africa 70’s ‘Expensive shit’ at #402
  • King Sunny Ade’s ‘The Best of the Classic Years’ at #465
