Rema earns a new RIAA Plague

Nigerian Afrobeats singer Rema adds a new plague to his collection as the remix of his hit song ‘Calm Down,’ on which he featured American pop star Selena Gomez surpassed a million units in sales in the United States of America. The superstar begins his year with an impressive feat due to this new development. Rema is now set to receive a platinum RIAA plague to stamp his achievement, and this has created a buzz on the internet.

The ‘Calm Down’ remix was released on August 25, 2022, to the delight of fans, as it was also a big moment for the Afrobeats industry. Afrobeats was introduced to a new audience due to this collaboration, and the song did not disappoint in dominating the charts. The hit song peaked on the international UK Singles Charts at number 6, and on the Billboards Hot 100 at number 28. With his RIAA certification, Rema now joins internationally recognized artistes like Ckay, Burna Boy, and Wizkid on the list of platinum certified artistes.
