Burna Boy’s ‘Last Last’ tops Rollingstone’s 2022 Afropop list

African Giant Burna Boy adds another feather to his hat as he tops Rollingstone’s list of the biggest Afropop records of 2022. Rollingstone is an American magazine that focuses on music, politics, and popular culture, and it has released its list of the biggest Afropop records of 2022. Afropop has proven to be a genre that is here to stay as it thrives year after year thanks to the spectacular artistes that release award-winning records to showcase the goodness of Afropop.

The Rollingstone’s inaugural list comprises of forty Afropop hits; from Afrobeats to amapiano, R&B to rap, and gengetone to drill, Rollingstone’s teams spent time to curate a list of tracks that broke barriers and crossed borders. These are songs that have kept music lovers glued to their music apps, as they anticipate the next Afropop single to bop their head to.

The list was released on Wednesday, December 28, 2022, and Burna boy’s viral heartbreak song ‘Last Last’ tops the list. The song was released in May 2022, and it took the international scene by storm. The song was also the lead single to Burna boy’s sixth studio album ‘Love, Damini.’ The success of ‘Last Last’ did a lot to Burna boy’s career growth in 2022 as it broke records, and earned nominations for the superstar.

‘Last Last’ was tagged one of Afrobeats biggest international single after it peaked at number 4 on the UK Charts and also peaked at number 44 on Billboard Hot 100. The single also earned a nomination for Best Global Song at the 2023 Grammys. It also holds the title of the most streamed song of 2022 on Apple Music in Sub Saharan Africa.
