Nigeria’s Flamingos qualify for Semi-final

The Nigerian U-17 women’s team has done the unthinkable by qualifying for the semi-finals at the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup in India. The flamingoes played against the USA on Friday, October 21, 2022, to secure the semi-finals. The Nigerian team came in strong even after waiting because the match was delayed for two hours due to the weather. The flamingos’ last victory was against Chile; their victory against the USA added to their winning streak.

Nigeria scored the opening goal of the match when Omamuzo Edafe scored the penalty kick awarded to Nigeria in the 27th minute. However, the USA forward Amalia Villarreal equalized just before halftime. The match ended 1-1, then the teams proceeded to the penalty shootout. The penalty shootout ended 4-3, with four goals for Nigeria. The flamingos are now looking forward to qualifying for the grand finale.
